EYFS Approach to Learning

What is the Early Year Foundation Stage?

To ensure that children learn and grow effectively, the EYFS framework establishes the standards that all early years providers must meet. To guarantee that children have the knowledge and skills they need to commence school, it lays out a set of guidelines for educators to adhere to.

Olive & Ivy Education offers tutoring sessions specifically tailored to students who would benefit from additional academic support in this particular domain. For students who are in the early stages of their educational journey, revisiting certain subjects covered in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework can prove advantageous. Similarly, students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) may also find EYFS Tutoring beneficial, contingent upon their present academic proficiency.

Primary Approach to Learning

Key Stage One & Two:

In order to ensure optimal learning and development for children, Key Stage One has been designed to establish the essential standards that prepare students for the SATs. By collating a comprehensive set of questions, SATs assess knowledge and skills that help to successfully transition into Secondary schooling and in some cases determine what level students study at high school.

Our tutoring services encompass all primary level subjects, offering students the opportunity to excel in these areas and cultivate a newfound passion for learning. Particularly in subjects such as English and Mathematics, tutoring serves as an invaluable tool for bolstering students' understanding in preparation for their upcoming SATs exams. By intervening earlier in their academic journey, we strive to improve students subsequent results beyond initial expectations. While we cannot guarantee a passing mark on any exams, we do guarantee to provide comprehensive support and preparation within the allotted timeframe.

What are SATs?

SATs are standardised exams administered to students, accompanied by the evaluation of Science and English writing assignments by their respective teachers. These assessments serve the purpose of gauging academic achievement and facilitating a smooth transition into secondary education. It is imperative for educators to guarantee that every student under their tutelage is adequately prepared to excel in these examinations. Adhering to the teachers' overall suggestions for enhancing your child's education throughout the year, and particularly in the lead-up to the exams, may necessitate seeking supplementary tutoring when deemed necessary.

Secondary Approach to Learning

Key Stage Three and Four:

Key Stage Two has been designed to facilitate the education of children, with the specific objective of preparing students for success in their GCSE examinations. GCSEs are widely acknowledged qualifications in a wide range of subjects, typically pursued by students aged 14 to 16, who have intentions of securing placements in esteemed educational institutions such as colleges, sixth-forms, and apprenticeship programs.

At Olive & Ivy Education, we pride ourselves on our ability to  cater to the unique needs of each pupil. We believe in incorporating the pupil's interests whenever feasible, ensuring engaging activities and work assignments. Tutoring serves as an excellent means to augment pupils' learning in preparation for their GCSE exams. By providing one-to-one support within the home, pupils can feel less pressure with their studies, we aim to improve future results beyond initial predictions. It is important to note that while Olive & Ivy Education cannot guarantee a passing mark on any exams, we do guarantee our utmost dedication when working with each student in their exam preparation.
